The technology for ubiquitous computing systems (UCS) has and continues to advance at a dramatic pace. However, the technology for ensuring the security and availability of those systems has not kept pace.
Traditionally, security has not been considered as an essential element in the design or development process and was often added as an afterthought. As a result, today's systems are often plagued with numerous vulnerabilities that may be exploited by malicious users. Thus, to realize their potential, necessary network assurance and security (NAS) measures have to be
incorporated in the design and during the operation of ubiquitous systems.
